olympics

I want to go far away
A distance from the smog
Get out of these shoes
Retire from the formality of the pin stripe
This tie reminds me of a noose
I want to go somewhere
Where I’ll greet each sunrise like an Olympic event
Tie my boot laces
Climb hostile terrain
Live on a ranch
Off the grid
Deep in the woods somewhere
Spot wildlife unexpectedly
Chase after impala
Only to see its beauty at a closer vantage point
Smell the taste of the range
Embrace the width of the plain
Go back into time
Light a lantern
Sit on a porch listening to crickets
And the rest of the night time choir
Look into the eyes of the pitch dark forest
Circumvent fear
And the associated trepidation of introspection
Find my soul somewhere in the solitude of the forest
Hone my archery capability
Give nature what it has given me
Balance the scales ever so lightly
Earn a livelihood hunting poachers
Kill trophy hunters for a sport
Enjoy the olympics

cyclic

Twirling in circles
Hopping and hoping
Rolling down hills
Searching for my bale of comfort
Love is a wheel of hay
The very wheel that moves everything we do
The motive that rotates the Earth
Like the Ferris wheel
It entertains the heart
Indulges the soul
Love a gamble
Too similar to Russian roulette
Spinning daily
Bumbling my way like a white ball on a busy casino table
Somebody has to lose
For the next punter to win
A winner takes all scenario is all too familiar
Betting with more than the shirt on your back
Placing your heart on the stake
The stakes forever high
If you win
The heavens have shown you favour
The moons watching your back
The stars the applause
Celebrate each celestial moment with a dash of humility
Love is a game
Where everyone is fair game
Sometimes the hunter can be hunted
Cupid can repossess his wares
Dispossess all you have
All you treasure
Just like that at the stroke of finger tips
By taking his arrow back
And stabbing you where it hurts most
Love is a gamble worth taking
The losses are exorbitant
Yet worth every cent
The biggest losers are those who never took a chance
Never enjoyed the exhilarating excitement of the playground
Love a merry go round
Sometimes it spills you
Tosses you onto the curb
I’ve been hurt so many times
Too many scars to count
My well of tears is dry
My heart a graffiti wall
Tattooed with the names of smooth criminals
Culprits like me
Love is a melody drumming in my mind
My heart a victim of its adventurous spirit
Life cyclic

promise

Tulips in Keukenhof GardensLove is invisible
Elusive to those seeking it
Abundant to those passing by
Pointless running after it
Love is a feather floating in the wind
Play hide ‘n seek
And it will find you
Perch itself on your back like a bat on a cave wall
Your love letter is on its way
Maybe in the mail
An innocuous clash of trolleys at the grocery store
Followed by the smile you’ve been waiting a life time for
The smile that illuminates your world
Love is the reason we stay alive
When the pendulum swings your way
Hold on for dear life
It’s bungee jumping without the safety procedures
When love grabs hold of you
Don’t run away
Love is a drone
Without love
Life is a bud that died too soon
An empty promise

the future

Reading my palms like an encyclopaedia
Searching for a heads up on the future
The red paths on my white palms signalling a danger ahead
Streams of veins forming an intricate network
A complex highway interchange
Rubbing my hands in tentative anticipation of what’s to come
Society making us sick with its protocols
Forced to work all the time like farm labourers
Imprisoned by an unnatural pastime
In order to amass more than we need
Driving some of us crazy with depression and hypertension
Breaking our backs with stress fractures
A nervous breakdown one pill away
The most mentally deprived people are the normal ones
The perfect citizens with medical insurance and life assurance
Oblivious to the dangers of the mainstream
Voting for different people with the same corporate mandate
Life has no guarantees
Going back and forth like ants on the job
Whilst I am busy swinging gently like a pendulum
My tongue skiing on the slopes of my ice cream cone
Enjoying a cold treat in the middle of winter
Going against the grain
Watching society commit suicide
Placing people in a pressure cooker
Whilst the status quo cooks the books
Tempers with the history as it occurred
Contaminates the future of drinking water
Making my way back to the future
Returning to the ways of my ancestors
Securing the soul of my people
Peace of mind a greater priority
Far ahead of expensive real estate and it’s material appendages
Safeguarding what belongs to me in my ark
My rebellious mind depriving me of vanity
My roots anchoring me in anticipation of a great flood
When all the feeble people will be washed away
Washed away by pollution infested waters
The city can drive you crazy with its hustle and bustle
Losing your mind is acceptable
But losing your soul is a completely different chapter altogether

stars & stones

We so blessed
Our skin is the blueprint of our beauty
Resembling black gold
Smooth like crude oil
A back drop for gold
Oh my
We so blessed
Essence of beauty
A universal complexion
Dark skin
So beautiful
Our skin a solar panel
Absorbing the sun with ease
No wonder we warm hearted
We so blessed
Coffee coloured
Covered in melanin
Nature’s indulgence
Jet black
The colour of the gods
Onyx, Tourmaline, Obsidian
Gemstones
Lauren, Alek, Viola
Stars
Nature’s desire
A variety of black
Damn!
We so blessed

homecoming

At a crossroads
Finding myself here
Faced with a conundrum
My heart yearning for more
Yesterday gone
Dearly departed with its dreams
What my heart wanted yesterday immaterial at this moment
Thirsty for much more
More of the same no longer sufficient
Today here now
Experiencing a change of heart
Desiring a lifestyle change
No make over
A complete revamp
Something parallel to nature
Attuned to the wild
An animal like the rest of the kingdom
Seeking my habitat
Somewhere with no road signs
A nook compatible with my soul
Asking nature to co-habit with me
Overwhelmed by a humbling realisation
Am no different from an ant
Healing a bleeding heart
Shaping a misguided mind set
Nature’s garden landscaping my sanity
Wanting a tomorrow filled with peace
A place where I can touch somebody
Touch them like the way nature touched me
Make a difference in an indifferent world
Listening to the voices of a forest
Experiencing a homecoming
A resting place for my spirit
Where serenity grows

nature situation

Am sorry dear
Too occupied by worldly matters
Foregoing heavenly duties
Too busy being prim and proper
Yet I desire you all the same
In exactly the same measure as before this lull
To the same degree
Thoughts of us forever linger in my mind
My hands yearn
To feel you fill my arms
Come together like nature requires
Make love like love warrants
Haven’t made love to you like I should
As often as you demand
To my satisfaction
Haven’t spilled sordid ink
Just the way you like it
Haven’t made love to you in a while
Want you in a nature situation
My love
Haven’t parted your limbs
Kissed you
You know where
